Maker's Mushrooms is an small farm and homestead specializing in the cultivation and grow kits for specialty, gourmet mushrooms.  We also offer farm fresh eggs, herbal remedies and farm solutions.

 

Owner and Operator, Chrissy Smith, graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Agriscience and Environmental systems with an emphasis on organic production.  

 

"After returning to college at age 30 to get my degree in Agriscience, I knew that I wanted to have a farm and give back to the community.  In 2015, a local mushroom company did a presentation during one of my courses  at UGA and I fell in love with the process. That is when my journey began but didn’t turn into an actual business until 2022. I’ve spent years researching, cultivating and developing easy methods to show others how to grow mushrooms. Mycology is my passion and I have converted many areas in of my home into lab and processing areas for mushrooms. I still have a full-time job, and hand-make all of my grow kits and products after work, on the weekends and in my spare time. I am fascinated with the world of mycology and love to share my knowledge and experience with others about mushroom cultivation."
