How long will the shiitake log kit produce mushrooms?

With proper care, the log kit can last 2-4 years depending on the diameter of the log. The log needs to maintain 30% moisture content so be sure to water weekly during dry spells. Do not let the log dry out and keep elevated off of direct soil.
How long will it take to get fresh mushrooms after I make my logs at home?

This will vary depending on the size of the log and season inoculated. You can expect to see your first mushrooms within 9-12 months after the inoculation date listed on the log tag. Weather can impact fruiting conditions as well so always check the log during and after a rain storm.
What is the white or green stuff growing on my log?

The white fiber is mushroom mycelium growing throughout the log. Some green mold might grow on the ends of the log but it is harmless. If this happens, remove excess water and spray with hydrogen peroxide if needed.
